Community Based Research Projects for 2017

The following projects were done for the 2017 class. Click on a link to see the storytelling video. You will need to register (free service) with voicethread to view the videos. For the Cherokee Street Accessibility stories each team chose a different side of the street to audit.

  • Cherokee Street Accessibility Audit (Employees/Customers) - A research project that focused on how accessible businesses in historic Cherokee Business District are to people living with physical disability. In addition to in-depth interviews the class populated a cloud-based service (wheelmap.org) that people planning to visit the area can check for the degree of accessiblity provided by a business facility and/or the street front.

  • Fox Park Neighborhood Gentrification - A research project in which students performed in-depth interviews with a neighborhood (Fox Park) that is undergoing gentrification.
